Martin Dickerson is buried in a near by cemetery. He was
in the party of Levi Todd that left Fort Harrod in 1779 to make a new settlement
to the north side of the Kentucky River, called Todd's Station. Todd's
Station broke up after a man by the name of White was killed on April 2,
1780. Many of the settlers returned to Fort Harrod, some went to the newly
built fort at Lexington. Martin Dickerson, his brother Archie, and one
by the name James Boone, went back to the abandoned Todd's Station and
lived high on the gardens and buffalo meet that year. See: John Shane's
