Woodson (p. 101) To all whom these presents may come, Greeting no ye that I Josias Bullock of the County of Jessamine and State of Kentucky for the love and affection I have for my child to Wingfield Bullock whom married my daughter Nancy I did give at the time of their marriage three negroes (Viz) Betty Fanny and Liddy all of whom I have now given and Granted and by these presents do firmly clearly and absolutely give and Grant to the said Wingfield Bullock his heirs or assigns forever . Fry of the Commonwealth and County aforesaid of the other part Witnessed that the said James Hawkins and Lucy his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred pounds to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge doth grant bargain sell alien [ ] and confirm unto the said William A. Woodson of the county of Jessamine and state of Kentucky do hereby constitute and appoint Samuel Postthwait of Lexington, Kentucky my true and Lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive possession in a feasible manner of a Negro boy of a yellow complexion named James of John Clay late of of Lexington now in the [natchee] country or of necessary to make use of compulsory means to obtain possession of said Negro against the before mentioned Clay and I do further authorize the said Posthwait to dispose of said Negro if he may deem it proper after having obtained possession of him and of the above mentioned Clay shall have continued his rout to New Orleans prior to the arrival of the said Posthwait at Nathee or after his arrival there and before his acquiring the possession of the Negro above stated I do hereby authorize my said attorney to transfer the power hereby granted by me to him to any person he may confide in for the purpose of doing that at Orleans which I have authorized my said attorney to transact for me at Natchez and I do hereby ratify and confirm every act or acts done by my said attorney in the prosecution of the above power and they shall be obligatory on me as if by me personally transacted. Woodson whose name is affixed subscribed to the above certificate is Clerk of Jessamine County in the state aforesaid and that due faith and credit ought to be given his signature as such given under my hand this 30 day of August 1800 and in the ninth year of the Commonwealth Will Lewis (P. 112) Know all men by these presents that I John Scott of Jessamine County and State of Kentucky late partner of Samuel Scott - Deceased, and now the only surviving partner of the Firm of John Scott & son have ordained constituted and appointed Thomas B. Scott of the same county and state aforesaid my full and Lawful attorney in fact for me and on behalf of said Firm of John Scott & son to transact all business in every place or port whatever, either in the United States or in any other part of the world and more especially under the unlimited power above give to settle sue for and dispose of at his discretion all the debts which were due or property which belonged to my late son and partner Samuel Scott deceased and particularly to settle for and collect together the property of the said firm in the hands of my son and partner at the time of his death or which was by him deposited with or consigned to any person whatever either in the United States of America or elsewhere and I do hereby authorize my attorney aforesaid to give receipts or other discharges to commence suits or pay debts or do any other act or acts which he deems right and necessary for completely transacting all and every part of the business of said firm which remains yet to be transacted and also to receive of any bank in any part of the United States of America any money which may have been deposited there by or for the said Samuel Scott deceased either for himself or as a partner of the said firm of John Scott (P. 115) partners and the only real partners of the firm of John Scott and Son.
