Deed Books A and B 1799-1810 (p. 159) This indenture made the 8th day of December one thousand eight hundred between Lewis Craig of Mason County and state of Kentucky of the one part and Martin Whip of Jessamine County and state aforesaid of the other part Witnessed that the said Lewis Craig Sen. for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds lawful money of Kentucky to him in hand paid by the said Martin Whip the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and forever discharge the said Martin Whip hath granted bargained sold aliened & conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain alien and sell unto the said Martin Whip his heirs and assigns one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying & being on the waters of Hickman creek and in Jessamine County and bounded as follows. Beginning at two sugar trees and Hickory in Wm. Anderson line & corner to Elias Hitt thence north sixty five degrees west one hundred and four and a half poles to two ashes sugar tree & hickory in Jos. Chrisman line thence with his line south twenty two degrees west one hundred fifty two and a half poles to three white ashes & a dead forked red oak corner to Patrick Gray thence with his line south sixty nine degrees east one hundred and twenty six poles to two sugar trees & black walnut saplings thence (p. 160) north fifteen degrees east one hundred and sixty seven poles to the Beginning. Containing by survey one hundred and fourteen and a half acres to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land to the said Martin Whip his heirs and assigns and to their only proper use and behoove forever. And the said Lewis Craig Sen. doth covenant and promise and grant to and with the said Martin Whip and his heirs that he will forever hereafter warrant and defend the land hereby intended to be conveyed to the said Martin Whip his heirs and assigns forever against the claim and demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming In witness whereof the said Lewis Craig Sen. hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written signed & acknowledged in the presence of Teste Jos. Woodson (p. 161) Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Hicks of the county of Jessamine and commonwealth of Kentucky for the consideration of twenty five pounds current money in hand paid hath this day bargained sold and delivered unto John Sandowsky the following property to wit: one small bay horse, one yearling bay colt, one sorrel blind horse one large red cow and calf, one brown cow and calf, one brindle cow one feather bed and furniture. Twenty eight small hogs, two rifle guns, one large bed, quilt which said property I warrant and defend from all person or persons whatsoever given under my hand and seal this 22 day of January, 1801. Teste John McKinney DC (p. 162) This indenture made the fifteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred between John Johnson and Zachariah Johnson of Augusta and Rockbridge counties and state of Virginia as executors of the last will and testament of Zachariah Johnson late of Rockbridge County Virginia of the one part and Michael Cogan of the county of Jessamine and state of Kentucky of the other part Witnessed that the said John and Zachariah Johnson executors as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of eight hundred pounds current money of Virginia to the said Zachariah Johnson Senior in hand paid the receipt they the said Zachariah Johnson Jun. and John Johnson do hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the said Michael have granted bargained sold & by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Michael Cogan and his heirs forever all that certain tract or parcel of land containing by patent bearing date the fifth day of December one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven - Four hundred acres lying and being in the county of Jessamine on the head of Jessamine creek at a large spring and a remarkable camping ground and bounded as followed, to wit: beginning at an ash walnut and honey locust on the line of Alexander Craig's old military survey of one thousand acres thence south Twenty degrees west three hundred and fifty poles - (p. 163) crossing a branch and passing said Craig's corner to two hickories and a cherry on Maj. (p. 165) This Indenture made this nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and one between Samuel Reeds Sen. of the county of Jessamine and state of Kentucky of the one part and Samuel Reeds Jun. of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witnessed that for and in consideration of the sum of twenty seven pounds current money of this state unto the aforesaid - Samuel Reeds Sen. in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said Samuel Reeds Jun. his heirs executors. administrators. or assigns a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the said county of Jessamine on the waters of Hickman Creek being part of a tract of land whereon the said Samuel Reeds Sen. now lives, that he purchased of a certain Robert Saunders and bounded as follows, to wit, Beginning at three white oaks in the aforesaid Samuel Reeds Sen. original line and running south thirty three and one half degrees, east one hundred and eighty four poles to a hickory ash and white oak on the said original line thence along said line east thirty five poles to three white oaks in said original survey thence along the old line south one hundred & eighty Thirty eight poles to a locust Thence south eighty (p.166) seven degrees west one hundred and thirty eight poles to the beginning containing ninety acres --- To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Samuel Reeds Jun. To wit: Beginning at a white oak and dogwood, James Matcalfe corner thence W. 45 ° W. 141 poles to 3 dogwoods on Henderson line and corner to Geo. Woodson, clerk This Indenture made the fifteenth day of December in the year of our Lord 1800 between Abner Porter of the County of Orange and Commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and Andrew Woods of the County Mercer and commonwealth of Kentucky of the other part Witnessed that the said Abner for and in consideration of the sum of Lb. 12 current money to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he does hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the said Andrew Woods. (p. 174) Heirs Execrs. and administrators hath granted bargained, sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Andrew Woods and his heirs a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county of Jessamine situate on the waters of Jessamine creek and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a white oak (on a line north sixty degrees west) thence north forty five degrees east twenty eight poles to three elms Johnson's corner thence north eighty seven degrees west sixty eight poles to a buckeye on the bank of the creek thence south sixty degrees east fifty two poles to the Beginning containing Five acres and 63 poles be the same more or less being part of a tract of five hundred patented in the name of said Abner Porter for four hundred and fifty seven acres provided however that if the said land shall be hereafter ever lost to the said Woods by any other claim than those hereafter mentioned the said Abner Porter is not to in law or equity to be compelled to refund any part of the consideration money herein mentioned or to pay any damages which may accrue in consequence of such loss. Together with all and every of the appurtenances - advantages and improvements thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances unto the said Andrew Woods and his heirs forever and the said. Abner Porter for himself his heirs Executors. or administrators doth covenant grant & agree to and with (p. 175) the said Andrew Woods and his heirs forever that he the said tract or parcel to the said Andrew Woods and his heirs forever against the claim or claims of all and every person whatsoever claiming by from or under the said Abner Porter, and his heirs or any of them doth and will forever warrant and defend by these presents.
