Woodson (p. 183) This Indenture made this tenth day of January eighteen hundred and one between Thomas Brown Scott and Sally Scott of Jessamine County and the State of Kentucky of the one part and Robert Brown of Adams County and State of Pennsylvania of the other Witnessed that whereas William Brown Senior late of the county and state last mentioned died in testate [ ] and 120 [ ] of a tract of land situate and being partly in Frederick County and State of Maryland and partly formerly in York now in Adams County and state of Pennsylvania aforesaid called and known by the name of Carrollsburgh and black walnut bottom. By whose decease without issue the same descended to the said Robert Brown William Brown and the heirs of their sister Margaret deceased of whom the said Thomas and Sally are a son and daughter. Lewis (p. 185) Know all men by these presents, that I Thomas Garnett of Jessamine County and State of Kentucky hath this day bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto Benjamin Garnett of Franklin County and State aforesaid and Leonard Garnett and William Garnett of Jessamine County and State aforesaid one hundred and sixty-four acres of land; one dwelling house and five outhouses the said land adjoining Joseph Daugherty on the west John Shackleford on the east, also six Negroes, to wit, Daniel, George, Jane, Landow, Patsey and Ann, also twelve horses fifteen head of cattle twenty head of sheep, fifty head of Hoggs four feather beds and furniture with bed steads and cords one cupboard one safe one bookcase one dozen of chairs two sets of knives and forks five dishes three dozen of plates, four pots two dutch ovens six tables and tea kettle one shovel and tongs five sets of plough irons three axes and five hoes one wagon and Jack screw and six pair of gears one cross cut saw one hand mill two thousand weight of bacon three hundred barrels of corn for and in consideration of the sum of five shillings to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and the said Thomas Garnett doth agree to warrant and defend the aforesaid land and property from any person or persons whatsoever claiming thereto In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 20th day of February 1801 the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and one. February 20th 1801 The within bill of sale between Thomas Garnett of the one part and Benjamin Leonard and William Garnett of the other part was produced before me acknowledged by the said Thomas to be his act and deed and is duly recorded in this office. This Indenture made this twenty first day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred between David Arnett of the county of Lincoln and district of Kentucky and James Arnett of the county of Fayette and district above written of the one part and Peter Poindexter of the County of Jessamine of the other WITNESSETH that the said David and James Arnett for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and ninety five pounds current money of Virginia to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which they do hereby acknowledge and thereof doth acquit and forever discharge the said Peter Poindexter and to his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County of Jessamine and on the headwaters of south elk horn it being part of Adam Stevens military survey and bounded as follows, to wit BEGINNING at a walnut corner in Coghran line thence north thirty-one degrees. East one hundred and thirty three and one third poles to a honey Locust and double white ash thence south sixty three degrees east one hundred and twenty three poles to a red oak in the survey line thence south thirty one degrees west (p. 187) one hundred and thirty three and one third poles to a white Hickory and ash cornering with Cohran line to the beginning containing by estimation one hundred acres be the same more or less to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular the premises thereto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and every part and parcel thereof unto the said Peter Poindexter and his heirs and assigns forever to his only proper use & behoove and the said David and James Arnett for themselves & their heirs the before granted land & premises will warrant and forever defend against the claim and demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the said David & James Arnett have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written. (P. 188) Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Goforth of the County of Jessamine and state of Kentucky do nominate constitute and appoint Peter Fourney of the county of Washington and state of Maryland my true and lawful attorney to act for me and in my name to sue for and recover of a certain John Waggoner the sum of fifteen pounds current money of Maryland and all acts done by my said attorney relative to the collection of the said money shall be as obligatory on me as if personally transacted by me. Woodson and Col. P (p. 190) This Indenture made this fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and one between Zachariah Taylor of Jessamine county and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Fred Zimmerman of the county and commonwealth aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Zachariah Taylor for and in consideration of the sum of Fifty Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge and forever acquit and discharge the same Fred Zimmerman his heirs Executors. and administrators Have granted bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Fred Zimmerman his heirs and assigns forever all that tract or parcel of land situate lying and being on the East fork of Hickman creek in the aforesaid county and bounded as followed (To wit) Beginning at an elm and horn bean standing on the bank of said creek on the west side about twenty poles above a riffle running North thirty seven degrees East thirty two poles to a post oak and elm in Isaac Smith's line thence with his line south sixty two degrees East fifty six poles to a small black Walnut & Hickory in said Zimmermans line thence with his line south thirty degrees west thirty eight poles to said. creek Thence down said creek as it meanders to the beginning. containing eight and a half acres more or less together with all improvements water courses profits and appurtenances whatsoever to the said premises belonging or in anywise appertaining and to the reversions remainders profits and all the estate rights title interest property claims and demand of heirs the said Zachariah Taylor unto Fred Zimmerman of in & to the same to have and to hold the lands hereby conveyed with all and singular the premises & every part and parcel thereof with every of the appurtenances unto the said Fred Zimmerman & (p. 192) Zachery Taylor for himself his heirs Executors and administrators do covenant promise and agree to and with the said Fred Zimmerman his heirs and assigns by these presents that premises before mentioned now are and forever hereafter shall remain free of and from all former and other gifts bargains sales dower rights and title of dower [ ] execute[ ] titles troubles charge and encumbrances whatsoever done or suffered to be done by him the said Zachariah Taylor or any other person or persons whatsoever and doth and will warrant and forever defend by these presents IN WITNESS whereof him the said Zachary Taylor have hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written. WITNESSETH, that whereas by Virtue of an Execution Issued from the court of Quarter Sessions of Franklin County in favor of Major William Lewis against the estate of Edmond Hawkins for one hundred and twenty four pounds and the said John McKinney as deputy sheriff aforesaid assigned to sale four hundred acres of land hereafter described and sold the same to the said Robert Campbell by public auction for one hundred and eighteen Dollars and fifty Cents the receipt whereof he the said John McKinney doth hereby acknowledge and forever acquit the said Robert doth grant bargain and sell unto him the said Robert for and in consideration of the sum aforesaid Four hundred acres of land lying and being in the county aforesaid and bounded as follows. (To wit) BEGINNING at a stake in Morris'field corner to John Campbell running N. 177 poles to two sugar trees and coffee bean in Capt. Cunningham's line Thence with his line N. 45 E. 221 poles to two black ashes and white oak corner to said Cunningham in McConnell's line thence with said McConnell's line S. 45 E. 113 poles to a stake in Logan's field thence south 257 poles to a Spanish oak Sugar tree Redbud and Hackberry on the east side of Curds road thence west 234 poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the said land together with its appurtenances to the only proper use and behoove of him the said Robert Campbell and his heirs forever and the said John (p. 194) McKinney doth for himself his heirs etc. as deputy sheriff aforesaid agree to warrant and defend Edmond Hawkins right and title to the before mentioned tract of land against the said Hawkins In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the date above written. McKinney DSJC This Indenture made this Seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred between Charles West of the county of Jessamine and state of Kentucky of the one part and Hugh Chrisman of the county and state aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH that by an act of the Legislature of the state of Kentucky Sheriffs are authorized to sell so much of each tract of land charged with Taxes as will be sufficient to discharge the said land from the arrearages of Taxes due thereon if the Tax due be not paid by the first of April annually also the said act further (p. 195) authorized sheriffs to convey to the purchasers of any land so sold all the interest right title claim and demand of the proprietor of the land to the purchaser producing a certificate of survey of the land to the sheriff, I the said Charles West high Sheriff of the county aforesaid by virtue of the Auditors direction and pursuant to advertisement required by law having exposed the same to public sale for the consideration of Two dollars and forty cents have by virtue of the above recited act sold granted aliened and confirmed and by these presents do sell alien grant and confirm unto the aforesaid Hugh Chrisman and his heirs and assigns all the rights titles interest and demand of Benjamin Netherland his heirs and assigns to a certain tract or parcel of land containing thirteen hundred and twenty acres laying on the Kentucky River being surveyed by virtue of an entry made by Benjamin Netherland on part of a Treasury Warrant No. 12795 the said warrant was for 2399 acres only the above quantity of 1320 acres surveyed and bounded as follows. (To wit) Beginning at three Cedars and white oak on the cliff of the Kentucky river and opposite to the mouth of Cedar River thence along the top of the cliff of Kentucky and binding thereon, to wit, North 20 degrees West 180 poles North 80 poles North 35 degrees East 220 poles North 72 degrees East 277 poles North 80 degrees East 41 poles to a locust and sugar tree on the cliff thence leaving the cliff south 40 degrees east 332 poles to three ashes on a line of McMurtries survey thence with his line. Woodson This Indenture made this seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred between Charles West Sheriff of the County of Jessamine and state of Kentucky of the one part and William Shreve of the county and state aforesaid of the other part WITNESSETH, that by an act of the legislature of the state of Kentucky Sheriffs are authorized to sell so much of each tract of land charged with taxes as will be sufficient to discharge the said land from the arrearages of taxes due thereon If the tax due be not annually paid by the first of April also the said act further authorizes Sheriffs to convey to the purchasers of any land so sold all the interest rights title claim and demand of the proprietor of the land on the purchasers producing a certificate of survey of the land to the sheriff, I the said Charles West high sheriff of the county aforesaid by the virtue of the auditors direction and pursuant to advertisement required by law - having exposed the same to public sale for the consideration of one dollar and seventy four and one quarter Cents (p. 197) have by virtue of the above recited act, sold, granted, aliened and confirmed and by these presents do sell, alien and confirm unto the aforesaid William Shreve and his heirs or assigns all the right title interest and demands of Benjamin Netherland his heirs or assigns to a certain Tract or parcel of land containing Two Thousand one hundred and seventy five and one quarter acres laying on the Kentucky river being by virtue of an entry made for Robert Smith in the following words (To wit) January 18th, 1783 Robert Smith enters 2175 1/4 acres of land on a Treasury Warrant No. 11632 on the Kentucky above the mouth of Silver Creek BEGINNING opposite to the mouth of said creek 80 poles from the river running north 40 west 1600 poles thence north eastwardly at right angles from each end of this line for [quantity]] and sold by said Robert Smith to said Benj.
