Indian Mounds

This is an Adena Indian mound, dating between 800 BC to 800 AD. This was a very important land mark in the early days of settlement. When James Douglass ran his line of surveys across Jessamine County in 1774, what was called his "Douglass's Lower Line" ran very near this mound. Several large surveys cornered there. The mound became very important to the early settler as a land mark and was the subject of many early law suits.
