Jessamine Men in the War of 1812

The Jessamine County Historical Society is working on identifying and tracing those individuals who served in the War of 1812 from Jessamine County.  Below are the rosters from the History of Jessamine County with some notations as to other information found about these men.  Ernestine Hamm and the rest of the Society would appreciate any help anyone can provide as to further information about any of these men.  Please contact Ernestine through the Society using this email:

Jessamine county supplied seven companies of soldiers in the War of 1812 totalling approximately 600 men.  On this page we will attempt to identify as many of these soldiers as we can.

The companies will be listed in alphabetical order as they are identified.  The first to be chronicled is Captain Gustavus Bower and his company.

Jessamine county had two companies in the battle of the Thames, fought June 13, 1813.  The two companies were mounted men and were in Col. George Trotter's regiment.  Capt. Gustavus Bower commanded one of these companies.  He was born near Fredericksburg, Va., in 1786 and settled in Nicholasville in 1810, as a physician.  When the War of 1812 was declared he raised the following company, which was in the battle of the Thames:
